The 23rd Channel

This is something I received as a fax many years ago. I don’t even remember who sent it. I have to say that I am convicted as much now as I was then.

The TV is my shepherd, I shall not want. (read, pray, care, etc…)
It makes me lie down on the sofa.
It leads me away from the faith.
It destroys my soul.
It leads me in the path of sex and violence,
For the sponsor’s sake.
Yea, though I walk in the shadow of Christian responsibilities,
There will be no interruption,
For the TV is with me.
It’s cable and remote, they comfort me.
In the presence of worldliness,
It anoints my head with humanism and consumerism.
My coveting runneth over.
Surely laziness and ignorance shall follow me all the days of my life,
And I shall dwell in the house watching TV forever.

Psalm 119:37
“Turn my eyes away from worthless things;
preserve my life according to your word.”

Psalm 101:3
“I will set before my eyes no vile thing.
The deeds of faithless men I hate;
they will not cling to me.”

Job 31:1
“I made a covenant with my eyes
not to look lustfully at a girl.”

YOU ARE (OR BECOME) WHAT YOU YIELD TO!

    father dave, you surely hit me bigtime!

    the Tv set really has become for most household, the new altar, where families congregate. and the remote control is now the sceptre of authority in the house.

    May the Lord have mercy on my soul, and purify mt heart of its worldliness.

    thank you.

    I have printed this out and will keep it close to me. I ran across your blog from seeing you on the most innovative churches. Loved the Man of the Tombs song. Acoustic stuff is like no other.

    If you get a chance and you have 5 min, could you check out my blog and let me know what you think. Peace
